Amador STARS' Fair Window

For several years, STARS volunteers have created a display window at the Amador County Fair. These windows are used to illustrate the annual fair theme, but more importantly spread the word about STARS services and events in the community.

In 2011, Jeannie Vodden and her team made it four first place victories in a row with their "Dancing with the Steers" theme!

Some words from the artist..."I like researching via the internet for ideas and images. This year I looked up pictures from the Dancing with the Stars tv show. I "dressed" the steers in cowboy outfits thinking of the various styles of dancing that they usually do on the show, and that Western dance would be appropriate for the County Fair. I included three judges, like in the show: a pig, a horse and a sheep. I also used the Dancing with the Stars trophy as a place to include the Amador Stars information. And, as always, I added lots of stars, even on the male steer's belt buckle and on his face. My dad, Ken Morrison, always helps me on the technical side of things. Carol Woolsey and her daughter, Kristin, helped in the set up of the window.

At the 2009 fair, STARS had the larger, feature window in the front of the building. Once again, Jeannie Vodden's take on the "A Grape Time to Hukilau" theme was beautiful and creative!

In 2008, the STARS window won first place in the non-commercial competition with their interpretation of "Barnyard Mardi Gras"! Congratulations to artist Jeannie Vodden and her team: Carol Woolsey, Rita Nunes, Lucille Morrison, Nancy Swensen, Olivia Saxton, Ken Morrison and Ginger Rolf.
